Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Attorney-General.
The Minister of Justice is responsible for the legislation which governs the Board's role and responsibilities.
Administrative support for the Board is provided by the Department of Corrections, the responsibility of the Minister of Corrections.
