Maka Renata is serving a total sentence of 10 years and six months and his final applicable release date is 2 December 2009.
Mr Renata was subject to a section 107 application back in September 2006 and since the making of that order has continuously appeared before the Board for regular reviews every six months. He last appeared on 21 October 2009 and at that hearing all parties requested a further adjournment through to November so a question of release into accommodation could be considered.
Today he appeared before the Board accompanied by his counsel, Ms Earl. We have now communication from the (Organisation Withheld) that a placement has been arranged for Mr Renata to be released on 25 November 2009 into the (Organisation Withheld). This has been consented to by the Chief Executive and Mr Renata’s counsel.
The Board will therefore order that Mr Renata be released on that day into the custody of the (Organisation Withheld) on the following conditions. These conditions will remain for a period of six months past his applicable release date of 2 December 2009.
Special conditions are as follows:
(1) You are to undertake and complete the Residential Reintegrative Programme administered by the (Organisation Withheld) and abide by the rules of the programme as directed and to the satisfaction of the Probation Officer and programme provider.
(2) You are to undertake and complete any appropriate treatment/counselling or programme as may be deemed suitable by your Probation Officer (including for alcohol and drug abuse and/or psychological intervention) to the satisfaction of the Probation Officer and treatment provider. The details of the counselling or treatment to be determined by your Probation Officer.
(3) You are not to engage in any employment or volunteer work, paid or unpaid, without the prior written approval of the Probation Officer.
(4) You are not to communicate or associate with any persons or class of persons specified to in writing by your Probation Officer, unless you have the prior written consent of your Probation Officer.
(5) You are to be placed in the care of the (Organisation Withheld) and reside at (Address Details Withheld), and not to move from that address without the prior written approval of the Probation Officer.
(6) You are not to have contact or otherwise associate with the victim(s) of your offending, directly or indirectly, unless you have the prior written consent of your Probation Officer.
(7) You are not to associate or otherwise have contact with any person(s) 16 years of age or younger unless under the direct supervision or an informed adult who has been approved by the Probation Officer. An informed adult is a person over the age of 20 years who is fully aware of your previous offending and high-risk situations and, in the opinion of the Probation Officer, will not support or collude with any further offending.
